Rapid changes along Dundas Street transform Toronto

TORONTO–April 3, 2008

Dundas Street, one of Toronto's oldest, winds through a diverse set of communities. These historic neighbourhoods helped shape the character of Canada’s largest city. But as Toronto's population explodes, new dynamics emerge and the shifting identities of Dundas Street promise a new Toronto.

To the east Ryerson University plans to infiltrate Toronto’s downtown commercial core, and to the west, in the suburbs, the city of Mississauga proposes a light rail transit with hopes to eliminate the car.

In between, internationally-renowned architect Frank Gehry comes home to elevate the Art Gallery of Ontario to world class status; residents of Alexander Park take charge in revitalizing their community; and Little Portugal is going beyond bakeries and sports bars to attract a younger, diverse crowd.

As Dundas Street changes Global360 brings you the stories of the people who are making it happen.
