They call her "Riva la Diva" because when it comes to talking with people, she is far from shy. Born and raised in Montreal, Riva's ability to communicate to large crowds began in her elementary school years when she performed in English and Yiddish plays at the Saidye Bronfman Centre. After putting her acting career to a rest, Riva felt compelled to tell stories in more personal forms. In high school, CEGEP and university, she involved herself in a variety of media activities, from being yearbook editor to a TV McGill host and reporter.

After graduating with a B.Sc. in Psychology from McGill University, Riva cruised the high seas as an activity staff member on Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas. Interacting with hundreds of new guests every week while living in tight crew quarters with people from all over the globe, Riva had the opportunity to expand her communication skills to reach a more diverse set of crowds. After ship life, Riva returned home and braved the rough waters as an intern at Global News in Montreal. Through assisting reporters on site and in the newsroom, Riva quickly knew what her next career move would be.

Riva is currently pursuing a Master's in Journalism at Ryerson University. As a journalist she plans to combine her background in psychology, health science, travel and culture with her storytelling expertise to educate the public on topics related to health and well-being.

When she's not trying to break into the media world, Riva is either dancing, playing with kids, doing yoga or classical stretch. While she enjoys living in Toronto, she often misses the fresh croissants and baguettes that are found on most corners in Montreal.
