I love storytelling, but mostly the kind that involves images. You see, I’m a visual person.

Despite a lifelong obsession with the CBC, I never thought I'd end up in journalism. A stint in broadcasting at OMNI Television after my undergraduate degree at McGill, however, changed everything.

Working in television made me very happy. Not only did it open my eyes to new possibilities, it also proved that a degree in political science isn’t useless. Well, not entirely, anyway.

Thanks to my B.A., I developed solid research, critical, analytical and communication skills. I was then able to apply these to my reporting.

Later, my diploma got me into graduate school. Here, I hope to improve my research, critical, analytical and communication skills. My goal, after all, is to become a better reporter.

My brain is full of useless information and I remember EVERYTHING. I remember people’s names, birthdays and miscellaneous events. I have no need for electronic reminders – I’m my own walking agenda. This comes in handy when I’m planning out my day, which they say is important in broadcast journalism.

(Ok, I lied. I have a school agenda, but only because I need to write down things that don’t involve names, birthdays and miscellaneous events. I need to SEE things, remember?)

Another thing you should know about me is that I love food. I love reading about it, talking about it, buying it and preparing it. But most of all, I love eating it.

Growing up, I used to stand patiently by my grandmother’s side anytime she baked sweets. I learned a great deal watching her, though I was too young to realize it then. I was much more interested in scraping the bowl and utensils clean of whatever yummy pre-baked goods she would (purposely) leave behind for me.

I still do this today. And so does she.
